You're a spouse or family member of someone working or studying temporarily in Canada. You may be eligible for an open work permit if you're: a spouse of a skilled worker in occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill type 0, A or B approved to work in Canada six months or longer.
The child sponsorship program is a subsection of the Family Class of immigration. You may sponsor a child or other dependent, both natural and adopted. So they can live with their parent(s) as permanent residents in Canada. In order to be eligible, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) must approve both the Canadian citizen or permanent resident and their child abroad in order for the sponsored person to receive a visa.
